Alistair Anderson is internationally recognised as a master of the English Concertina and a leading performer on the Northumbrian Pipes.

Founder and co director of Folkworks 1986 – 2009, Alistair marks his 75th birthday with a concert in support of the Folkworks Youth Summer School. The Summer School returns this year following a break because of the pandemic. Proceeds from the concert will support bursaries for young people for who financial circumstances may be a barrier to taking part.

If you can’t make the concert, you can still help by making a donation to the Folkworks Summer School Bursaries here.

He will be joined by special guests including; Nancy Kerr, Bradley Creswick, Dan Walsh, Andy May, Sarah Hayes, and a well known Northumbrian musician who was a director of the Folkworks Summer School.

“The concertina emerges as a flexible and sensitive instrument… it is amazing what he can achieve” – The Guardian

“He remains one of this country’s most majestic and inclusive instrumentalists”Colin Irwin, fRoots
