From your home to our house

Whether you’re a regular in our building, just fancy trying something new, or are planning a once-in-a-lifetime visit, there are lots of easy ways to get to us.

Just make sure you read the pre-show email you’ll receive before any show you’re attending for updates before you travel. With the big construction project for Gateshead Quays going on right next door and the four year restoration project on the Tyne Bridge starting in early 2024, there’s a fair bit of disruption to the roads and to public transport. If in doubt, Gateshead Council and Newcastle Council have the latest information.

Ways to get here

Hop on a train

The nearest station to us is Newcastle Central, about a 20-minute walk away. And there’s a lot of ace options for your stroll – once you get down through the city you can come across the Art-Deco style Tyne Bridge, the Grade-1-listed High Level Bridge, or the Swing Bridge if you want to be closer to the water. Or you can wander along the quayside for a bit before crossing underneath the colourful lights of the Millennium Bridge.

Ride the Metro

Our closest Metro station is Gateshead, about a 10-minute walk away. This is one of the best ways to get to us if you’re coming to a gig or concert, because it’s free! (More info below.)

Catch the bus

There have been quite a few changes to local bus routes and some of the stops nearest to us are not currently available. You can get all the latest info on the Go North East website.

Live a little further afield? Catch a coach to selected classical concerts for just £8 return.

Come by car

If you’re driving then the best postcode to tap into your map app is NE8 2BA, as that will bring you straight to our car park.

And no need to worry about the new Clean Air Zone in the city – it’s only for vehicles like buses, coaches, and vans. Private cars aren’t affected.

Take a taxi

We’ve got a drop-off point right next to our West entrance, in the turning circle on the Tyne Bridge side of the building.

Stretch your legs or grab your bike

Whether you’re coming from a station or a bus stop, or you live close enough to walk the whole way, just remember that we’re up on a hill! It’s a great way to get your steps in though – and if you need to catch your breath at the top you can just pretend to be enjoying the view. And if you cycle there are plenty of bike racks right by each of the main building entrances.
