Think opera is not for you? Give Streetwise Opera an hour and they will change your mind.

The award-winning opera company for people affected by homelessness is back, with a joyful and inspiring performance at Sage Gateshead.

Discover that opera is about raw and authentic passion, and the epic emotions of everyday life.

Scenes from world-famous operas by Puccini and Streetwise Opera’s own Tell Me The Truth About Love are presented with spirit, boldness and fun by Streetwise Opera performers supported by live musicians.

The Opera Hour includes the world-premiere of ‘Hestia Returns’, an opera chorus by composer in residence Ian Stephenson, created with participants in Streetwise Opera’s weekly workshops at Recovery College Collective, a peer led mental health charity, and Sage Gateshead.

This performance is part of Streetwise Opera’s Opera Hour series, which includes events on 1 March at Middlesbrough Town Hall, 21 March at Sage Gateshead and Nottingham Trent University, 22 March at Southbank Centre and 26 March at Royal Northern College of Music.
