THIS EVENT HAS PASSED

Postponed (Wednesday 16 December 2021)

Sadly the Sage Gateshead is Curious:Winter Cabaret performance due to take place at Sage Gateshead on Thursday 16 December 2021  has been postponed due to illness.

However we are delighted that we have been able to reschedule the with the original lineup – Beccy Owen and Fatt Butcher to Wednesday 13 July 2022.

All tickets remain valid for the new date. If you would like to attend the new date you don’t need to do anything.

Join Curious for a fantastic cabaret with a double bill of performances by highly acclaimed musician Beccy Owen and Birmingham’s ‘queen of disco’, Fatt Butcher.

Presented by Curious Arts and Sage Gateshead.

Beccy Owen

Beccy Owen is a queer, neurodiverse artist who lives in Whitley Bay. With piano-based songs overflowing with dynamism, lyrical intelligence, and each imbued with their own character, Beccy’s music has won high acclaim over the years in both the media and amongst her army of underground supporters.
Described by the NME as ‘a delinquent Carole King’ and by Music Week as ‘a fallen, aggrieved dark angel, and a very, very special talent’, Beccy has released six solo albums and had also fronted numerous bands, including electro-pop 4-piece Joy Atlas and chamber-pop 9-piece Sharks Took The Rest.
Owen’s music has been championed by BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Tom Robinson (BBC6 Music), Steve Lamacq (BBC6 Music) and Jo Whiley (BBC Radio 2).

Fatt Butcher

Self-appointed queen of the sausage roll, intergalactic sex-pot, and non-binary icon in the making, Fatt Butcher is Birmingham’s queen of disco.
The illegitimate love child of Elton John and Pam St. Clements, Fatt’s work has been described as ‘Spine-tingling… an incredible vocal powerhouse’ (West End Best Friend), ‘full of wonders’ (The Times) and ‘the accelerating decline of humanity’ (Trolls of Twitter).
Fat positive, bringer of queer joy, incredibly attractive, yet very modest – Fatt is a host, vocalist, and cabaret performer.

Curious Arts

Curious Arts is a Newcastle-Gateshead based not-for-profit organisation committed to developing and championing LGBTQIA+ arts, artists and audiences across the North East.
