Join Royal Northern Sinfonia for an evening celebrating the variety and versatility of music for string orchestra, directed by orchestra Leader Maria Wloszczowska. Featuring a lively symphony by a youthful Mendelssohn, and a 20th century masterpiece by Richard Strauss in the first half, after the interval we’ll be waltzing our way across Europe with dance suites from Skalkottas, Brahms and Bartok.
Royal Northern Sinfonia, orchestra of Sage Gateshead, is the UK’s only full-time chamber orchestra. Founded in 1958, RNS has built a worldwide reputation for the North East through the quality of its music-making and the immediacy of the connections the musicians make with audiences.
