Sibelius arr. Farrington Symphony No.5
Young French conductor Chloé van Soeterstède has been charming audiences all over the world with her intuitive and expressive musicianship. She, and our very own Steffan Morris (cello), join us tonight in a programme showcasing the RNS strings in luscious Elgar and Tchaikovsky, followed by our first performance at Sage Gateshead of Iain Farrington’s special arrangement of Sibelius’ Symphony No.5. This piece was a huge hit in our regional touring programme last season, so we are delighted to be bringing it home to Sage One. Great music, superb musicians, a perfect acoustic – what more could you ask for!
As well as the concert in Sage One, we will also be offering free chamber music on our Concourse before each show, performed by musicians from RNS. If you would like to come along please make sure you book a table, where you will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink while you listen.
Please note, there are a limited number of tables available, which must be booked at the same time as your ticket. For your safety, we will be running table service only – all of our usual café and bar areas will be closed.
A limited number of free tickets are available if you live in Gateshead and have never been to a concert before. Health & Social Care Workers can also benefit from free tickets on production of appropriate ID on the night. Please note both offers are only available by telephone on 0191 443 4661. £5 tickets are available for those unemployed or under 30. This offer is available online or by phone.
