New Year’s Day just wouldn’t be New Year’s Day without the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss family, in what has become a Viennese tradition for Sage Gateshead audiences. And what a treat that acclaimed French-born conductor Alexandre Bloch will be bringing us some extra flavours of his homeland, alongside virtuoso 15 year-old violinist, Leia Zhu. What better way to start the new year than with a concert of glorious, elegant, indulgent music?!

** Update: Please note that due to international travel restrictions around the ever-changing Covid-19 situation, Alexandre Bloch will no longer be conducting this concert. Instead, the sensational Rebecca Tong will be joining us. We can’t wait!
