Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5 ‘Emperor’

Fans of RNS will know that our closing concert last season was due to include Lars Vogt saying his farewell as Music Director of the orchestra with a performance of Beethoven’s mighty ‘Emperor’ concerto. The concert was sadly cancelled, so we are thrilled to welcome him for these two performances as part of our Sage Live 2020 season. If you want to have a go at playing the ‘Emperor’ yourself check out our interactive score at rnsinsidestory.com. Or if you just want to relax and listen, book now to hear Lars perform, alongside music by Mendelssohn and Kristina Arakelyan, one of our Young Composer Competition winners last season.

For Covid safety reasons we will not have printed programmes available on the night. Please download and read the concert programme in advance or print your own to bring with you. Download Programme.

If you would like more information about attending one of our concerts please see What to expect when you visit us and our FAQs.

Pre-concert performance

As well as the concert in Sage One, we will also be offering free chamber music on our Concourse before each show, performed by musicians from RNS. If you would like to come along please make sure you book a table, where you will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink while you listen.

Please note, there are a limited number of tables available, which must be booked at the same time as your ticket. For your safety, we will be running table service only – all of our usual café and bar areas will be closed.
