Royal Northern Sinfonia’s Principal Conductor Dinis Sousa and Leader Maria Włoszczowska celebrate the talents and connections of two famous musical families: the Mendelssohns and the Schumanns. All four were gifted musicians and knew each other well, performing together and supporting each other’s careers. Violin sonatas from Felix and Robert book-end a selection of Lieder (arranged for violin) by Fanny and Clara, both talented composers in their own right but often overlooked by history.
