“May the Queen Live Forever!” When a King or Queen of England is crowned, the whole nation sings – and over the centuries, composers ranging from Handel and Elgar to Walton and Parry have risen to the occasion with music of breathtaking pageantry and power. In the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, conductor Paul McCreesh turns Sage One into Westminster Abbey. A massed choir and full Royal Northern Sinfonia perform some of the happiest and most glorious music ever written for English coronations, by turn majestic, joyful and profoundly beautiful. In the year of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, this is a musical celebration to stir the heart and touch the spirit.
