Uke Band

THIS EVENT HAS PASSED

‘Campanella’ means ‘little bells’. It’s a style of ukulele playing which allows your melody notes to ring out as long as possible. It’s a beautiful sound and makes your ukulele sound a bit like a harp. Learn the basics with Ian McKone. Suitable for ukuleles tuned high G C E A.

More Information:

Suitable for anyone comfortable with basic chords and strumming. Some fingerpicking knowledge is handy but not essential.

About our Virtual Programme

Our virtual classes are fun, informal and suitable for players of varying ability, with options for those who fancy a bit more of a challenge.  There’s no pressure and nobody will be asked to sing or play solo!

When you sign up, you will be able to access a link to the online class, along with any other information and materials you might need, by logging into your Sage Gateshead account here.

>> Take a look at our handy step by step guide on how to join our online classes.

In preparation for your virtual class, we would recommend that you wear comfortable clothing, have either enough space to stand or be in an upright chair as possible, bring a drink to stay hydrated, and perhaps something to make notes if you might find this helpful.

If you have any questions about the class or would like to speak to a member of the team please contact [email protected].

We hope you enjoy singing and playing together!

Photography/Filming

During the term, we may wish to film or photograph part of the class to share on Sage Gateshead’s social media to show others what a great time we’re having and encourage them to join us! All participants will be notified in advance and have the option to be excluded from any filming/photography.

A Future for Live Music in the North East

We know how important singing and playing are and we’re pleased to be able to programme these classes.  Right now, we are seeing increasing levels of need in our community. Many people are experiencing social isolation, struggling with their mental or physical health, missing out on their musical education, or simply craving the incomparable magic of live music.

Last year we launched our 2020-23 Crisis, Recovery and Renaissance fundraising campaign which aimed to raise £3 million to ensure our survival and support artists and communities across the North East into the future. The campaign has now raised £1 million and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated.

If you are able to make a donation of any size to help us continue to ensure everyone has access to music, we would be eternally grateful. Learn more here and make a donation.
