Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Paul Edis performs a solo set of new songs and compositions using looping and electronics to create memorable melodies and tell stories. He will be joined by guests Northumbrian piper Andy May and saxophonist Matt Anderson (a familiar face from Edis’s Jazzy Christmas shows) in this special concert to mark the end of Paul’s year as Artist in Residence at Sage Gateshead.

‘A significant new voice in British Jazz’ – Jazz Journal.

Francis Tulip and Ben Lawrence

Both prodigiously talented young musicians from the North East, Tulip (guitar) and Lawrence (piano) met when they started performing together as teenagers in Jambone and the Early Bird Band. They have been playing together ever since in various different groups at venues across the region and beyond. For this set, the duo will play a mix of contemporary jazz and original compositions rooted in the jazz tradition.

This concert is being streamed for free in support of Sage Gateshead’s ongoing three-year Crisis, Recovery and Renaissance fundraising campaign which was set up in response to the urgent financial challenge presented by Covid-19.

This campaign aims to safeguard Sage Gateshead and the wide range of work we do and will ensure that we’re able to continue our ongoing commitment to artist development.

If you can, please consider supporting our work and musicians or text SAGE to 70460 to give £20 (texts cost £20 plus one standard rate message)

Sage Gateshead exists thanks to the support of public and private donations.
