Make Music Clinic: Arrangement Techniques for Folk Instruments
Explore a variety of folk arrangement techniques and textures in this mixed instrument workshop with Jed Grimes (Hedgehog Pie) and Niles Krieger (The Often Herd).
During the workshop, we will learn a traditional song and a traditional dance tune (sheet music provided) before delving into arrangement concepts including ornamentation, drones, chord substitutions, syncopation and more!
Open to intermediate/advanced players of acoustic melody and harmony instruments including (but not limited to) guitar, fiddle, flute, whistle, piano/button accordion, mandolin, bouzouki, etc. Participants are encouraged to bring an instrument, but places will also be available for anyone who might prefer to learn simply by observing the arrangement process.
