Hector Gannet – folk influenced indie rock – will perform their live exclusive soundtrack to North East Film Archive.

From first hearing, it has been clear to me that Hector Gannet are a band of exceptional talent.”  – Tom Robinson BBC 6music

Hector Gannet is an amazing poetic and musical artist. Watching Hector Gannet it seems he deserves a place at the top table.” Yan – Sea Power

“He’s a great songwriter” – Sam Fender

Aaron Duff is an artist who works under the name ‘Hector Gannet’, both solo and with his band. In 2017 Hector Gannet wrote music to accompany archive footage relating to the industry and culture of the north east coast. This was part of a project with North East Film Archive (NEFA) and the British Film Institute (BFI).  These select performances sold out small arts venues in the north and in London.

2023 – Hector Gannet has been granted exclusive licence by NEFA for a one-off performance of the soundtrack to film when they perform at Sage Gateshead on Saturday 6 May. This will be in addition to their full live set.

Aaron Duff, lead singer and songwriter with Hector Gannet said – “This is amazing news. We performed the live soundtrack a few years back in small venues which was great, but to perform with the film on a huge screen in a world renowned and purpose built venue like Sage Gateshead, is massively exciting, me and the full band really can’t wait to do this.”

Critically Acclaimed NEW ALBUM – THE LAND BELONGS TO US

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ MOJO MAGAZINE
“..pointedly political, natural world-advocating folk rock..”

7/10 UNCUT MAGAZINE
“North Shields’ answer to Crazy Horse.”

The Crack – ALBUM OF THE MONTH
“..superb, a folk-meets-indie-rock collection of songs that are shot through with humanity and compassion.”

Hector Gannet released their second album ‘The Land Belongs to Us’ in January to critical acclaim. An album which stands as a clarion call for coexistence, reflecting a deep love of nature – a point which has been reinforced by naturalist Chris Packham who has shared Hector Gannet’s music previously on his social platforms.

Hector Gannet’s deep love of nature is a big part of the ethos around the projects the band work on, and this event will partner with local wildlife educational company Wild Intrigue to raise further awareness around the Tyne Kittiwake project.
