Folkworks Youth Summer School 2020

For ages 14-20

In light of the most recent Government advice, Sage Gateshead will be closed to the public until further notice.  We’re working really hard to reschedule as many performances and events as possible, and will be in touch with customers who have tickets in due course. Please bear with us during these unprecedented times. The health and safety of audiences, musicians and staff at Sage Gateshead is our priority.

Folkworks Youth Summer School is an inspirational and legendary week of folk music tuition for those aged 14-20. Youth Summer School is a perfect way to get involved  in folk music, whether you have played lots already or are totally new to it. It’s a fun week full of tuition, songs, tunes and dancing.

The summer school is based in Emmaus Youth Village, where residential participants stay. Non-residential participants are also welcome and receive lunch and dinner at the School. Our experienced and welcoming pastoral staff looks after the young people 24/7 and make sure everyone has a good time. This fantastic venue has easy access to the outdoors, lots of space, comfortable en-suite accommodation and the opportunity for a camp fire or two!

Young people from both Junior and Youth Summer School work towards a performance alongside the evening of Friday 14 August and will also have an opportunity to perform with musicians from Adult Summer School at our farewell picnic on Saturday morning.
