Festival of Learning
Festival of Learning is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in England. During their Have a Go Month, hundreds of organisations hold learning events and activities, such as taster sessions, open days and lectures. The aim of these activities is to inspire people of all ages to ‘have a go’ at learning something new and discover what they love to learn.
Learn about the basics of Ukulele playing with Dave Wood, in a relaxed and welcoming environment. You’ll learn about the small but mighty ukulele, get to grips with basic chords and work towards learning some short tunes to play together in the session which you can continue at your own pace at home.
If you have your own ukulele, please feel free to bring it along. There will be a limited supply of ukes in the session for you to use.
Join Kerry Green to learn about the basics of singing in a group. You’ll look at breathing, rhythm and range. During the supportive session you will work on building confidence with sounds to improve vocal production, technique and awareness. Learn a couple of songs together as a group and have a good sing along at the end of the session. Learn to love your voice!
Come and join friendly and encouraging tutor Heather Ferrier to learn all about clog dancing! You’ll learn some basic steps, styles and techniques of this percussive traditional dancing and will work towards learning a short routine throughout the session.
We have a limited supply of clog dance shoes in all sizes up to 11 for you to try out at Sage Gateshead. (Sizes are limited, so we recommend bringing a pair of thin socks and a pair of thick socks, in case you need to go up or down a size.)
