Part of Brass in Concert

Cancelled

THIS EVENT HAS PASSED

Statement from Brass in Concert Chairman, David Bennett

“Planning for the Brass in Concert Festival is a very complex operation for the organising team and Sage Gateshead staff, but for the bands taking part it requires considerably more focus over a long period than many other contests. We have taken the decision to cancel the 2020 Festival with the best interests of these bands uppermost in our minds, but also recognising that attending any events could be very challenging for our loyal audience members in the coming months.

“This is obviously an extremely difficult time for everyone. We send our best wishes to everyone in the world of brass bands and hope that we can welcome as many of our Brass in Concert ‘regulars’ as possible, as well as those new to the event, to Sage Gateshead on the weekend of 20-21 November 2021. We will be working tirelessly until then to ensure that the 2021 Brass in Concert Festival will be a bigger-and better-than-ever celebration of the very best in brass entertainment.”

Please bear with us during this unprecedented period. We will be in touch in due course about your tickets. Thank you for your patience and co-operation. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A top quality day of brass band entertainment featuring a 23 minutes programme by 11 bands including reigning champions Cory, the No. 1 band in the world for the past 13 years and current holders of the European, British Open and National Championship of Great Britain titles.

Returning to Sage Gateshead are Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, last year’s runners up and Flowers who finished in 3rd place.

Appearing for the first time are Krohnengen Band from Norway with local interest focussing on NASUWT Riverside Band from Chester-le-Street

The “friendly competition” is widely recognised as a North East Success Story since its creation in 1977 and is the leading event of its kind in the world.

Multi media screens display all the action as it happens with clear up images of the players in the heat of keen competition.

Frank Renton will master proceedings throughout the day.
