Operatic drama and passion, religious grandiosity and powerful emotion are all hallmarks of one of the most iconic pieces of classical music, Verdi’s Requiem – and this year we invited members of our community to be a part of it.
Marking a return to large-scale music making and in memory of those who have lost their lives to Covid-19, we sought experienced adult amateur orchestral players and choral singers from across the North East to join Royal Northern Sinfonia and Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia as we put together a massed performance of this incredible piece of music, to be conducted by our new Principal Conductor, Dinis Sousa, at Sage Gateshead.
Participants are currently working together to release a performance of which the North East can be proud, taking place live in the acoustic splendour of Sage Gateshead’s main hall on 28 November 2021.
