Silver Success: “I was the only person in my school to achieve a qualification like this”
This young person has had an amazing Arts Award journey through Sage Gateshead’s CoMusica Foundation Programme. He had been excluded from all schools he had attended and this has been the first course he has successfully completed.
To begin with he had little interest in the arts, however his journey through Discover to Silver Arts Award has seen him try many new art forms and take on many challenges. These included graffiti art, design, rapping, beat making, sculpture, film and editing, event organisation and public speaking. As part of his Silver Award he helped to organise the Discover in a Day Arts Award event at SummerTyne Americana Festival 2018 where he was involved in pre-organisation, delivery and working with artists on the day
Working on his Silver Award has had a huge impact on him; we have seen his whole demeanour, attitude and work ethic change. His creative and social skills have hugely improved. He really enjoyed it and would like go on to achieve a Gold Arts Award.
