Newcastle Chamber Music Series

chamber-music-society

For 2021-22, NCMS present a season of concerts postponed and rearranged from the cancelled 20-21 season. Like so many music societies, they were casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic. Especially frustrating was the fact that November 2020 was the 140th anniversary of the Society’s first ever concert, so our celebrations of this special occasion have had to be put back to the coming season, when they will feature the world-renowned Takács Quartet.

This season begins with the Gould Piano Trio, well known locally for their annual festival in Corbridge, and ends with one of the most distinguished of the Czech Republic’s many fine ensembles, the Škampa Quartet, making a welcome return.  Pianist Huw Watkins joins the Maxwell Quartet, who delighted us when they played at short notice in 2019.   New to the Society are the young, prizewinning Marmen Quartet and the popular and versatile clarinettist Emma Johnson and Friends. And on Saturday afternoon November 6th, there will be a special anniversary concert by the world-renowned Takács Quartet.  Join us in our celebration!
