Newcastle International Chamber Music Series

Chamber music is alive and well!  In their 2022/23 season, Newcastle Chamber Music Society present works by the great composers such as Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms and Shostakovich whose sonatas, trios and quartets are every bit as involving as their better-known symphonies.  There are some new discoveries by overlooked composers of the past, including two works by Felix Mendelssohn’s sister Fanny and a quartet by African American composer Florence Price, whose orchestral music is enjoying renewed interest.   And there are new works written for the performers, this time including a world premiere by a young composer who promises a great future.

There are six events this season, beginning with the Elias Quartet in October and ending with the Heath Quartet in May. In between we welcome violinist Bradley Creswick with pianist Margaret Fingerhut, the Piatti Quartet, the London Bridge Piano Trio and Quatuor Mosaiques.
