Scientists From Across Europe Meet In NewcastleGateshead
Sage Gateshead hosted more than 1,000 scientists and clinicians from across Europe at a key medical conference.
The 41st annual meeting of the European Thyroid Association attracted 1,050 delegates from 22 countries during the four-day event, which took place at the international music and events centre in September. With support from the NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau it is the first time the conference has been hosted in the UK in 15 years.
The conference is for clinicians and scientists who study the thyroid gland and its diseases. It is the most important European meeting in the field of thyroidology.
Sage Gateshead’s two main auditoriums – Sage One and Sage Two – were in full use, as well as the Barbour Room and C9 (a studio room located in the venue’s Music Education Centre). The vast concourse, with stunning views of NewcastleGateshead Quayside, was used for the welcome reception.
The conference included 12 industry exhibitors and 203 posters were on display.
