Sage Gateshead welcomes audiences back in June
We are happy that we can continue to welcome live audiences back at Sage Gateshead for the remainder of our New Beginnings concert series this June.
The safety of our audiences, artists and staff is our number one priority, and so as planned, we will maintain social distancing. This was first put in place in autumn for SageLive2020, and our audiences and staff told us they felt safe and comfortable. For more information on what to expect from your visit, click here.
“I wanted to congratulate every one of you on the excellent COVID organisation you have in place. I felt 100% safe and looked after.” Audience member attending SageLive in October 2020
We will also continue to live stream concerts for those who want to join us virtually from the comfort of their own home. For more information about our plans for the rest of summer, click here.
A message from Abigail Pogson, Managing Director of Sage Gateshead:
“I am so pleased to see audiences back at Sage Gateshead. Everyone has missed that unique buzz and excitement of live music in a great room. Safety will be our top priority and we hope people will also have a great night out.
“We would not be here without the incredible support of all of those who have donated to our Crisis, Recovery and Renaissance fundraising campaign in the past year. Thanks to so many people, we have overcome the initial crisis.
“But the road to recovery will be long and our financial challenges won’t end for a while. In pre-Covid times, we would be hosting hundreds of concerts, events and classes each month, welcoming thousands of people of all ages into our fantastic spaces. As we take the first steps towards recovery, our income is still hugely affected, and contributions from music fans, businesses and philanthropic organisations remain vitally important.
“Every ticket top up, every member signing up, every person making a donation, every corporate contribution and every message of support means the world to us. We want to rebuild live music in our region following the devastating impact of the pandemic and ensure music is part of everybody’s recovery. We can’t do this alone. Thank you.”
Crisis, Recovery and Renaissance Fundraising Campaign
The Covid-19 crisis presents Sage Gateshead with an ongoing financial challenge. Through our 2020-23 Crisis, Recovery and Renaissance plan, we aim to serve communities and people in the North East and wider North for the long-term.
This ambitious plan means we must raise £3 million.
