Sage Gateshead Hosting Free Music Sessions as part of the Nationwide Festival of Learning

Posted on 23 August 2019

Sage Gateshead are offering free taster sessions in singing, ukulele or clog dancing as part of the nationwide Festival of Learning’s Have a Go Month on Saturday 7th September.

Festival of Learning is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in England. During their Have a Go Month, hundreds of organisations, including Sage Gateshead will hold learning events and activities, with the aim to inspire people of all ages to ‘have a go’ at learning something new and discover what they love to learn.

Susie Mogaji, Head of Public Engagement Programme at Sage Gateshead said: “We are very excited to be part of the Festival of Learning this year by showcasing what Sage Gateshead has to offer. Adult learning is an important part of what we do and we look forward to opening our doors on the 7th September to anyone who is interested in trying one of these three classes, helping them to kick-start their journey into music and explore our Adult Programme that takes place all year round.”

Sage Gateshead’s new term of adult classes and workshops start from Monday 16 September but for those unsure where to start, this taster day is a perfect way to try something new. The Adult Programme not only offers ukulele, singing and clog dancing but much more including guitar, saxophone and percussion.

Stephen Evans, CEO of Learning and Work Institute, commented: “The Festival of Learning helps people to learn and to discover the wide range of opportunities there are to gain new skills, expand their abilities and transform their lives. I hope that people take advantage of this exciting event at Sage Gateshead and recognise that you’re never too old to learn.”

Tickets to the taster sessions are free and can be booked online. The three different music classes all start at 10.30am.
