IMOGEN 'Maria' | Live from Sage Gateshead

Recorded live at From the Glasshouse #4

Imogen

When IMOGEN emerged a couple of years ago, Line Of Best Fit and Atwood Mag described her first release as “preternaturally brilliant” and an “illustrative and graceful beginning from an artist we can’t wait to hear more of”. Honouring their words, late 2021 saw IMOGEN release her most powerful work to date, the ‘Bloodbag’ EP. An in depth exploration of control, this audiovisual work deals with themes of womanhood, disability and apathy. With her trademark soaring vocals accompanied by dark brass, synths, driving rhythms, and powerful visuals, the Geordie artist shows us storytelling in the most affecting way, lending comparison from Nick Cave through to Florence and The Machine.

With over 3 million streams since and an incredible band in tow, she has sold out multiple shows and has supported the likes of Joy Crookes, Rosie Lowe, Brooke Bentham and Another Sky, as well as receiving support from Radio 6, Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.

‘Maria’ was recorded live in Sage Two at our fourth From the Glasshouse gig – an amazing series of gigs with special one-off performances, intimate sets, the occasional surprise guest and a cosy and relaxed feel. Offering up a place for you to discover your new favourite artist.
