Sage Gateshead is committed to protecting your information and your privacy. We promise to only use your information with your consent and in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, 2018.
Operated by North Music Trust, Sage Gateshead is an international home for music and musical discovery, bringing about a widespread and long-term enrichment of the musical life of the North East of England. Our inclusive approach enables all our performance, learning and participation programmes to be constantly inspired and supported by each other.

When you purchase a ticket from us, sign up to our mailing lists, make a donation, register for an event or use any of other services, we will ask for your information which is required and appropriate for the delivery of the service.
When we ask for your information, we will ask for your consent to use your information for other purposes, such as to help improve our products and services, send you marketing information or to provide your information to third parties. As a registered charity that is in receipt of funding, we may ask for other information that funders have asked us to collect.
When we ask for your consent, you will always be informed about:
- What your information will be used for
- How you can withdraw your consent
- Any third parties your information may be shared with.
This is voluntary, and you are not obliged to provide any further information beyond what is appropriate and required for the delivery of a service.
You have the following rights related to your personal data:
- The right to request a copy of personal information held about you
- The right to request that inaccuracies be corrected
- The right to request us to stop processing your personal data
- The right to withdraw consent
- The right to request erasure of your data
- The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office or Fundraising Regulator
Our Responsibility to You
In line with GDPR legislation, we will also ensure that we:
- Collect, store and process your information in a transparent and secure manner
- Make it as simple as possible for you to opt-in or out-out of services
- Inform you of any data breaches that may affect you
You have the right to opt out, at any time, from any marketing or fundraising communications you receive from us. If you have opted out of receiving such communications, we will only contact you when we are required to do so. For example, we may contact you to give you important information about an event you are due to attend.
Third Party Sharing
We will never share your information with third parties without your consent, unless obliged to do so by another legal requirement as specified by the General Data Protection Regulation, 2018.
Where we use third party suppliers to provide services to fulfil our contract with you, we will only use and disclose your information necessary to allow the supplier to perform the services they provide for Sage Gateshead. Such services include email and mailing house distribution.
Where Sage Gateshead will only use third party services where agreements are in place to ensure your data is protected and used in compliance with GDPR legislation.
When we ask for information that may be provided to third parties, we will always tell you:
- What information will be provided to third parties
- Who the Third Parties are
- How the third parties will use your information
- If the Third Parties will share your information with other parties
We do not sell personal details to third parties for any purpose.
How we process your information
Your personal data will be held and processed on Sage Gateshead’s systems or systems managed by suppliers on behalf of Sage Gateshead in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
We use a customer relationship management (CRM) system to store all customer information as well as records of your interactions with Sage Gateshead, such as ticket purchases, donations, memberships and feedback.
Access to customer information is strictly controlled. The CRM system can only be accessed by people who need it to do their job. Where required, sensitive information is segregated and controlled, and only made visible to members of staff who have a reason to work with it.
On occasions, your information may be extradited from the CRM system to support with the delivery of a service. For example, to create a register for a class or event, or to process a gift aid claim. We have procedures in place to ensure that when information is removed from the system it is processed in accordance with GDPR legislation and ICO guidance.
From time to time, we may ask you to provide sensitive information. We will only ask for this information when it is required for the delivery of service, such as when you apply for a job.
We hold sensitive information securely and it is restricted to those who need to use it. Such information is erased when it is no longer required.
When we provide services, we want to make them easy, useful and reliable. This sometimes involves using cookies. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit.
Cookies are used to improve services for you through, by either enabling services we provide or making a website more personal to you, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site.
