Making Tracks

Sage Gateshead and Access Music Production CIC have an exciting opportunity for young people aged 16-25 years.

  • Become immersed in a recording studio environment
  • Explore how different musicians work with technology to create music
  • Learn about different music software, microphones and studio equipment
  • Meet professional musicians and music producers
  • Identify your own style of production
  • Get hands on to create, write, record and produce music
  • Learn skills and techniques to implement in your own music making at home

Making Tracks Introductory is the perfect way for you to develop Songwriting and Music Production experience.

You will work out of a professional production studio to learn how to use technology to develop your songwriting ideas through recording and the use of associated studio equipment.

Some of the topics covered include, learning about microphones and recording audio into Logic Pro, programming your own parts using software instruments and the basics of multitrack recording and mixing using plugins (EQ, Compression and Effects) so that you can create a demo of a song.

Making Tracks Intermediate moves into a larger studio environment to learn about multi microphone recording in a live space, working with musicians to develop production styles and advancing your mixing skills using Logic Pro.

Some of the topics we cover as part of this course include, sampling and manipulating audio, sound synthesis, recording drums, outboard equipment use in the studio, recording and mixing a live band performance, creating textures and layers using effects and automation and vocal production techniques.

All backgrounds, abilities and musical interests welcome, no prior experience or musical knowledge required.
