The Step Up Strings programme is for young people to develop their skills in violin, viola, cello and double bass.
The curriculum includes:
- Individual instrumental lesson
- 45 – 60 minute Musicianship Session
- 30 minute small ensembles
- 60 minute String Orchestra
When the Step Up Programme is oversubscribed priority is given to those completing Foundation Strings.
There are 30 teaching weeks and two performance days scheduled over the academic year. Musicianship sessions, String Orchestra and most instrumental lessons are scheduled on a Saturday morning.
Missed Lessons:
All of our tutors are professional and active musicians and could occasionally have rehearsals/performances on a Saturday. In this event, or if a tutor is ill, we will rearrange any lessons or find a substitute tutor. If a student is absent and misses a lesson for any reason we cannot guarantee that it will be made up.
