Jambone is anything but conventional, aiming to provide a range of fresh repertoire and performance challenges for its members
Jambone is a jazz ensemble directed by trombonist and conductor Jason Holcomb. They have performed at many events and venues alongside some of the top influential jazz musicians in the country.
Recently Jambone supported Ronnie Scott’s All Stars at Sage Gateshead, and Soweto Kinch at the Durham Jazz Festival, as well as headlining on Sage Gateshead’s stages and performing around the region.
Jambone comprises trumpet, trombone, saxophone and flute sections locked together by piano, guitar, bass and drums. The musical mission of the band is anything but conventional, aiming to provide a range of fresh repertoire and performance challenges for its members.
Jambone meet fortnightly on a Saturday afternoon at Sage Gateshead and regularly end their rehearsals with a performance on our concourse. In 22/23 we will be reintroducing a residential which helps to bond the group musically and socially.
Younger and less experienced students may be interested in our non auditioned jazz ensemble, Jazz Attack.
