We’re delighted to hear about some of the great achievements by some of our favourite artists. We can’t wait to hear more exciting music from them in future!

Huge congratulations to Clarence Adoo MBE; The Glasshouse International Centre for Music’s Artists in Residence Me Lost Me, Joe Snape, Geoff Kirkwood and Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno; and former Summer Studios residents Martha Hill and Big Joanie.

Last month, musical pioneer and performer with RNS Moves, Clarence Adoo MBE, was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Academy of Music in recognition of his services to music. Read more about it here.

Selected from over 10,000 applicants, Me Lost Me and Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno received support from Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice fund which supports cultural and creative practitioners with their creative development, and Me Lost Me was also awarded support from the Help Musicians UK Do It Differently Fund.

Geoff Kirkwood received a grant from the Daiwa Anglo Japanese Foundation earlier this year to support a project celebrating the links between Japan and the North East of England, in partnership with The Glasshouse and Royal Northern Sinfonia, which will result in an experimental symphony, art installation and a project for schools.

Former Summer Studios residents Martha Hill and Big Joanie are among the latest artists to receive support from PRS Foundation’s PPL Momentum Music Fund which will help them to break through to the next level of their careers.

Last week, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation announced their Award for Artists recipients – Joe Snape and Me Lost Me both received £25k to develop their creative ideas and contribute  to their personal and professional growth.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Me Lost Me and Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno both released new music this week, written during their time as Artists in Residence at Sage Gateshead. Listen to Acrobat on the Roof by Me Lost Me and KWEChE by Rapasa Nyatrapasa Otieno.

Fantastic to see this support for these great artists.
