Quay voices is a mixed voice choir led by Simon Davies-Fidler, the Music Director of the award-winning chamber choir, Voices of Hope. They sing a broad range of music with new compositions and regularly perform alongside Royal Northern Sinfonia and Chorus.
In 2018, members of Quay Voices performed as part of the BBC Youth Proms Choir, conducted by Grace Rossiter and Simon Halsay.
Quay Voices meet fortnightly during term time, with a residential weekend in September and a second residential in February. Performances take place throughout the year.
Application and Auditions
The application process for Quay Voices takes place between February and April each year, with auditions on Friday 31 May (all day) and Saturday 1st June (afternoon).
In auditions candidates will be asked to:
- Perform one song of their own choice
- Undertake simple exercises to test vocal range and musicianship skills, including both listening and sight reading ability
Please note, we can provide an accompanist for your audition (please bring a copy of your music). You are welcome to bring your own accompanist if you prefer or we can provide audio equipment if you wish to perform to a backing track.
The audition should last no more than 10 minutes in total.
We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in joining part of our Young Musicians Programme. You can email [email protected] or call 0191 443 5252.
