Quay voices is a mixed voice youth choir led by Simon Davies-Fidler, the founder of the award-winning chamber choir, Voices of Hope. They sing a broad range of music, regularly perform alongside Royal Northern Sinfonia and Chorus, and have performed as part of the BBC Proms.
In 2019, they performed with Neil Ferris and Sonoro as part of a national tour of new works.
Quay Voices meet approximately fortnightly during term time, with a residential weekend in September and a second residential in October or February half term. Performances take place throughout the year.
Application and Auditions
Due to the necessary closure of Sage Gateshead in March 2020, our audition process for 20/21 was managed remotely and auditions were digital.
The audition process for 21/22 isn’t yet confirmed. You can see a video on our standard audition process on our Ask Us Anything page.
In auditions candidates are asked to:
- Perform one song of their own choice
- Undertake simple exercises to test vocal range and musicianship skills, including both listening and sight reading ability
