CoMusica Exchange is a free development opportunity for emerging Music Leaders to gain invaluable knowledge and experience by being part of a learning group that is committed to inclusive music practice in North East England.

What do we mean by Musical Inclusion?

Musical Inclusion is an approach to music teaching and learning that means all children and young people can make music, whatever their background or circumstances. It’s about embracing every style and genre of music. It’s about creating access to music-making in the first place, and providing the right support and opportunities so that young people can progress on their individual journey. And it’s about Music Leaders having the right skills and resources to help each young person fulfil their potential.

What will it involve?

CoMusica Exchange will support you to develop skills, confidence and understanding of inclusive practice when leading music activities with children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances.

You will have access to a range of professional development opportunities including:

  • 4 CoMusica Exchange days which include practical inclusive music sessions delivered by experienced Music Leaders and facilitated reflective practice
  • 6 meetings with your Co-mentor
  • Shadowing opportunities with music practitioners working in a range of inclusive settings*

Reflective practice is central to the programme and sessions are designed to support a collaborative and creative learning process to allow space and time for reflection with others.

*Shadowing is an opportunity to observe and reflect on exemplary practitioners working in musically inclusive settings across the region.

Who is it for?
