Members of the choir Rock and Rolled Gold were rehearsing in the venue’s Music Education Centre when Gareth made an appearance.

The choir performed for him and received some hints and tips whilst listening to him talk about vocal technique. He also performed one of his own songs.

Rock and Rolled Gold is a weekly singing group which is part of Sage Gateshead’s Silver Programme. The programme offers vocal and instrumental daytime classes to people over 50 who want to learn a new skill or reignite a previous musical passion.

Sage Gateshead delivers over 30 different singing classes each week; absolute beginners to advanced, pop to classical and everything in between including soul, R&B, jazz and blues, folk, Broadway classics and opera.

Gareth said: “The amount and range of music classes people can come along to at Sage Gateshead is incredible. I was delighted to come and meet and sing for Rock and Rolled Gold today and witness the positive impact it has on their lives.”

Gareth performs at Sage Gateshead as part of a limited run of dates this Spring. He will be joined by The Swingles, the undisputed rulers of British close harmony, and some exciting guest choirs and singers.
