Help us set a new world record for the largest ever cream tea party! (Guinness World Records™)

The National Lottery Community Fund is inviting you at midday on 23 October to help them make history. They’d love you to be one of 1,500 people from across the UK attempting to set a new record (Guinness World Records™) for the largest ever cream tea party.

The cream tea – which is free for everyone taking part – will take place at the iconic Sage Gateshead in the stunning Gateshead Quays in celebration of The National Lottery’s 25th birthday, and 25 amazing years of bringing people together to help communities thrive.

What you need to know

To beat the Guinness World Records™ largest cream team party record they need every guest to drink one full cup of tea (with milk) and eat at least one wheat scone with jam and clotted cream.

If you don’t like a good cream tea then sadly this event won’t be for you. As it’s a world record attempt they have to abide by the rules and ingredients set by Guinness World Records™. No other food will be allowed so please do consider your dietary requirements or allergies before signing up.

How to accept this invite

Please register here to let us know you’re coming along  – and don’t forget to invite others along too – whether family, friends, colleagues, neighbours – the more the merrier and the closer they get to hitting the record. Please forward the details and get them to sign up too!

Remember though that they’re trying to break a record so please only sign up if you’re sure you can make it and stay for the duration.

They’re providing all the cream teas for free – you’ll only be responsible for paying for how you get there. Full details of transport options, car parking facilities can be found here.

You’ll find more detailed instructions about the event on the Eventbrite registration page.

As recipients of National Lottery grants since 2003 and the winner of the National Lottery’s Best Arts, Culture & Film Project in the UK, Sage Gateshead are particularly excited to be hosting this event and celebrating the National Lottery’s 25th birthday.
