YouTube sensation Anna Fedorova set for Sage Gateshead performance

Posted on 11 October 2017

Sage Gateshead’s Piano Greats series got off to a flying start with Lars Vogt’s performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations receiving rave reviews last month – and now it is Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova’s turn to take to the stage.

On Wednesday 25 October at 7.30pm in Sage One, Anna will be performing three of Rachmaninov’s Preludes alongside works by Chopin and Takemitsu, finishing with Mussorgsky’s astonishing showpiece Pictures at an Exhibition.

The concert pianist shot to stardom with her phenomenal performance of Rachmaninov’s second Piano Concerto in 2013, which has received more than 14 million views on You-Tube to date and is available to watch here.

Speaking ahead of her performance, Anna said: “I am very much looking forward to performing at Sage Gateshead.

“It will be the first time I have performed there and I cannot wait, because I know the hall has the most fantastic acoustics. I’m really looking forward to experiencing it – I hope you will enjoy it as well!”

Tickets are available from £18 and can be booked online here or by calling Ticket Office on 0191 443 4661.

Next up in Piano Greats is Peter Donohoe on Sunday 25 February with Sage Gateshead favourite Imogen Cooper concluding the series on Wednesday 16 May.

Piano lovers will also want to get booked up for Philippe Cassard’s critically acclaimed Complete Debussy marathon on Sunday 18 March – the complete piano works of Debussy, with four recitals in a single day, to mark 100 years since the composer’s death.
