Message from Sage Gateshead: Eva Stewart
It is with great sadness that we heard of Eva Stewart’s sudden death on 23 August.
Eva’s first professional position was with Northern Sinfonia, playing with the orchestra for almost 10 years.
She moved to the BBC Orchestra of Wales in 2002 but occasionally returned to Tyneside and was due to play with Royal Northern Sinfonia in their Opening Night concert of the Classical Season 2017/18.
In the final weeks of her life, Eva gave a dazzling solo performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, dressed as a bee, at the first ever Relaxed Prom.
Eva is remembered with great fondness by all her friends and colleagues at Royal Northern Sinfonia and Sage Gateshead.
