Beethoven Piano Concertos 1 & 5 release date announced
Save the date
In a special project this 2016/17 Classical Season, Lars Vogt and Royal Northern Sinfonia have been treating Sage One audiences to performances of all five Beethoven Piano Concertos, which form part of a live recording project with the Ondine label, co-produced by Deutschland Funk.
The recording cycle has gained much critical acclaim throughout the season, with The Guardian’s Alfred Hickling giving the “astonishing” Beethoven Double concert a four star review and The Journal’s Rob Barnes adding that the audience had “witnessed a man at the top of his game, demonstrating skill and total passion for the music.”
Audience members, too, have been taking to Facebook and Twitter to share their opinions. “Utterly brilliant”, says one user. “One to remember”, adds another. A regular concert goer posts: “I’ve always been impressed by RNS…but they really seem to be reaching new heights.”
The first CD, which includes Piano Concertos 1 and 5, will be released in the UK on 27 April, with digital and international release scheduled for 12 May.
The cycle of the five Beethoven Piano Concertos will be completed in the Beethoven Feast concert on Saturday 10 June, an epic restaging of the world premiere concert to beat them all. Not to be missed!
