This season, we are celebrating Song and Dance – and you can’t have a theme focussing on song without featuring some of Schubert’s magnificent contributions.

This concert will also feature the UK premiere of Jörg Widmann’s Versuch über die Fuge.

Already known to many in the classical music world for her virtuoso violin playing, Karina Canellakis was initially encouraged to pursue conducting by her mentor Sir Simon Rattle while she was playing regularly in the Berlin Philharmonic for two years as a member of their Orchester-Akademie.
