Mendelssohn Symphony No.4 in A, Op.90 Italian

A concert of tuneful, lively music with an Italian theme opens our season. We have two solo concertos, one for cor anglais, a rare performer on the solo stage. A rich serenade by Wolf, famous for his many songs, and Schubert’s anything Rossini can do I can do just as well overture are complemented perfectly by Mendelssohn’s symphony, which captures the composer’s exhilaration. This is Italy and I am loving it. The jolliest piece I have ever done.
