Mendelssohn’s Elijah has remained one of the favourites of the choral repertoire ever since its Birmingham premiere in 1846, its huge popularity due largely to its vivid dramatic writing for both soloists and choir depicting the events in the life of the prophet Elijah.
The combined forces of the Newcastle Bach Choir and the Musikverein from Newcastle’s twin city Gelsenkirchen are joined by the Newcastle University Symphony Orchestra and four leading soloists.
