In just 2 years, fiery saxophone-drum duo Binker & Moses have won a loyal following for their intense, hypnotic live show.
Their debut album Dem Ones was recorded live in Mark Ronson’s Zelig Studio for Gearbox Records and won the coveted MOBO award for Best Jazz Act.
Named as both Breakthrough Act & Jazz Act of The Year at the 2016 Jazz FM Awards, Binker & Moses will be releasing their highly anticipated 2nd album in early 2017 ahead of international touring.
Formed of keyboardist Dan Nicholls (who has worked with Squarepusher and Matthew Herbert), drummer Dave Smith and guitar and synth man Matt Calvert (Three Trapped Tigers, Heritage Orchestra), Strobes have created, via their debut release Brokespeak, a sound that eschews genre and feels free from time-stamps.
Conjuring big beats and a vast array of sonic possibilities, Strobes flickers effortlessly between the worlds of electro-improv, minimalist polyrhythm, Afrocentric grooves and distinctively original hooks. Built from collective composition, studio production, live sampling and improv jams, the music ranges from fiery, exhilarating odd-tempo loops, to polyphonic synth soundscapes and ‘beats that make loose clothing shimmer and earings rattle’ (TheArtsDesk).
