Featuring great bands from across Sage Gateshead’s Learning & Participation programme, including our BMus Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music programme and Young Musicians Programme, as well as other renowned ensembles from across the region. This afternoon of free music can be enjoyed by everyone.

An upbeat contemporary ensemble directed by Paul Edis from Sage Gateshead’s Young Musicians Programme.
2.30pm – 3pm
Paul Taylor is an accomplished pianist and keyboard player specialising in improvisation. His music is evocative, alluring and unique; combining unusual harmonies and sonorities with an original and fluid technique.
3.30pm – 4pm
Ruth Lambert Trio
The Ruth Lambert Trio takes it’s main influence from the early recordings of Julie London’s Trio. With the intimate accompaniment of Giles Strong’s guitar and Mick Shoulder’s bass, Ruth swings, improvises and transforms each song into something distinctive and personal.

Alex and Jack have been performing together for years with their unique sound of funk/jazz/swing/traditional folk and electro music

Newcastle’s own jazz-funk supremos with a ‘fire in the belly’ groove featuring the inimitable Chris Jelly on vibes.

Svarc Hanley Longhawn
A refreshing take on this classic trio format, with a broad sound palette ranging from ethereal, brooding moods to electrifying grooves. Presented with Jazz North.
