Conductor Jane Glover presents a special programme of music on the Free Thinking Festival theme of The One and the Many, live from Radio 3’s Pop Up Studio in the foyer.
Jane Glover is a Professor at the University of London, a Fellow of the Royal College of Music, an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music, and was created a CBE in the 2003 New Year’s Honours.
Jane has been music director of Chicago’s Music of the Baroque since 2002, was music director of Glyndebourne Touring Opera from 1981 until 1985, artistic director of the London Mozart Players from 1984 to 1991, and has also held principal conductorships of both the Huddersfield and the London Choral Societies. She’s conducted all the major symphony and chamber orchestras in Britain, as well as orchestras in Europe, the United States, Asia, and Australia and is performing with the Royal Northern Sinfonia in the 2017/8 season.
Her discography includes a series of Mozart and Haydn symphonies with the London Mozart Players and recordings of Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Britten, and Walton with the London Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic, and the BBC Singers. Recent releases include Handel’s Messiah (Signum) and Haydn Masses (Naxos). Jane’s critically acclaimed book Mozartʼs Women was published in 2005. She has just finished a book on Handel.
